🛡️ Enclosed trailer

Fully covered, climate-stable. Recommended for premium, classic, electric, or low-clearance vehicles. Better security and confidentiality.

Strapped on dedicated motorcycle carriers or alongside cars on multi-car trailers. Most carriers transport up to 4 bikes per truck.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to ship a car across the Balkans?
Within Greece (Athens to Thessaloniki): €180–€450 on an open trailer. Greece to Sofia: €350–€600. Greece to Bucharest or Belgrade: €550–€950. Enclosed (covered) trailers for premium or classic cars cost 1.5–3× more. Get an exact quote on Haulx based on your route and vehicle.
Open trailer vs enclosed trailer — which should I choose?
Open trailer (multi-car carrier): standard option, 70% cheaper, your car is exposed to weather and road debris. Fine for regular cars and short distances. Enclosed trailer: fully protected from weather, dust, and road grit. Recommended for luxury cars (>€50k value), classic cars, electric vehicles with sensitive batteries, and motorcycles.
Do I need to be present for pickup and delivery?
Yes, or you can authorize someone else. The driver inspects the vehicle, signs a condition report (CMR), and photos are taken at both ends. You must sign the delivery confirmation. Without a signed receipt, insurance claims cannot be processed.
Is my vehicle insured during transport?
Yes — all carriers on Haulx carry CMR insurance covering damage during loading, transport, and unloading (typically up to €11,250/tonne per the CMR Convention). For high-value vehicles, request additional all-risk insurance at booking — typically +€50–€200 depending on declared value.
Can I ship a non-running car?
Yes, but mention it when requesting a quote. Non-running vehicles require a winch or forklift for loading — typical surcharge €50–€150. Specify if the car has functioning brakes and steering or not.
How long does cross-border car transport take?
Greece to Bulgaria: 1–2 days. Greece to Romania or Serbia: 2–4 days. Time depends on whether the carrier waits for a full load (cheaper) or runs a dedicated trip (faster). Specify your urgency in the quote request.
Do I need customs paperwork to ship a car?
Within the EU (Greece ↔ Bulgaria ↔ Romania): no customs duties. You need the vehicle registration document, ID/passport, and authorisation if you are not the registered owner. Non-EU (Serbia, North Macedonia, Albania): customs declaration, temporary import permit (carnet), or full import duties. Carriers can advise on requirements.
Can I ship a motorcycle or boat?
Yes. Motorcycles ship in dedicated motorcycle trailers or alongside cars on multi-car carriers (typical price €220–€550 cross-border). Boats and jet-skis must be on their own road trailer; we connect you with carriers experienced in trailer-loaded boat transport.
