📦 LTL — Less Than Truckload

1–6 pallets sharing a truck with other shipments. Lower cost per pallet, slightly longer transit (1–3 extra days for consolidation). Best for regular small shipments.

🚛 FTL — Full Truckload

Dedicated 33-pallet truck (or smaller). Fastest transit, exclusive use, higher cost. Best for time-critical or large-volume shipments (10+ pallets).

Frequently asked questions

How much does a single pallet cost to ship in the Balkans?
Domestic pallets cost €45–€120 within a single country. Cross-border within the EU (e.g. Greece → Bulgaria, Romania) ranges €90–€280 per pallet via LTL. Non-EU routes (e.g. Serbia, North Macedonia) cost slightly more (€160–€290) because of customs handling.
What is the difference between LTL and FTL pallet shipping?
LTL (Less Than Truckload) means your pallets share a truck with other shipments — cheaper but takes 1–3 extra days for consolidation. FTL (Full Truckload) dedicates the entire truck to your shipment — faster (often same-day for short routes) but more expensive. LTL is best for 1–6 pallets; FTL for 10+ pallets or time-critical shipments.
How long does pallet freight take?
Within Greece or Bulgaria: 1 business day for FTL, 1–2 days for LTL. Cross-border EU corridors (Athens–Sofia, Sofia–Bucharest): 1–2 days. Cross-border to Serbia/North Macedonia: 2–3 days (customs adds 1–3 hours).
What pallet sizes can I ship?
Standard euro-pallets (1200×800 mm, max 800 kg, max 1.8 m height) and industrial pallets (1200×1000 mm) are accepted by all carriers. Oversized or extra-heavy pallets (>1000 kg) require advance notice and may need a tail-lift truck.
Do I need customs paperwork for cross-border pallet shipments?
Within the EU (Greece ↔ Bulgaria ↔ Romania): only CMR consignment note + commercial invoice + packing list. To/from Serbia, North Macedonia, Albania, Kosovo, Turkey: also T1 transit document, HS codes, and customs declaration. Carriers on Haulx prepare T1 paperwork.
Can carriers pick up from my warehouse with a forklift?
Most carriers expect the sender to load with their own forklift. If you need a tail-lift truck (driver loads), specify this when requesting a quote — typical surcharge €30–€80 per pickup.
Are my pallets insured during transit?
Yes — all carriers on Haulx carry CMR insurance (legally required for commercial freight in Europe). For high-value cargo, you can request additional all-risk insurance at the time of booking.
